The battle between the big two FIFA and PES continues almost a whole decade. The leadership was constantly changing during the years. PES 2014 is now on the market. This version of the popular football game series comes with the new Fox Engine developed by Konami to compete new FIFA's engines.

“It is all about controlling the ball.”

Each gamer knows that PES has always been about controlling the ball. With this new game engine Pro Evolution Soccer feels even more like football. It might sound crazy, but you can really feel the ball. Of course, all skills and moves in PES 2014 might have their equivalent in FIFA 2014. However, Konami's game offers much better ball control. Besides new Fox Engine, PES comes with the new feature, TrueBall Tech. This technology offers gamers improved control over the analog stick. Unfortunately, when it comes to player interaction EA's FIFA shines a bit more.

Game modes:

  • Training –     Before starting a game you might need some training first, especially     if you are moving from FIFA to PES. This mode will teach you the basic stuff and some other tricks, which will help you during the game.
  • Match – Play a single match versus AI or a friend of yours.
  • Football Live – Create your own football team (club/national), manage your squad and     lead it to glory.
  • Become a Legend – Choose a single player and manage him in order to “become a     legend” or at least the top player of the season.
  • Competition –     For those of you, who miss the championship mode from previous     version of PES, this game mode brings it back. Now you can play “Cup”. This mode lets you configure the different tournaments to your taste or play online. Since Konami doesn't have the right to     use some club team names, they are renamed. For example, Manchester City is Man Blue, Chelsea is London FC, etc. This is applicable to some German teams and championships too.

Konami claims that it has improved the tackles, which should be more fluid and realistic now. However, there is still a long way to go before, PES can reach FIFA regarding this point.

Another great feature and probably the biggest of PES 2014 is Artificial intelligence. It makes games more unpredictable. This is because of the CPU that moves players and lets them take amazing shots as well.

  • RAM: 1 GB

Recommended System Requirements:

  • CPU: Core i3-530 or Phenom II X4 925

Conclusion

Did Konami's PES 2014 finally displace EA's FIFA from the first place? Honestly, no. We really loved Pro Evolution Soccer 2014, but nobody can deny the great progress of FIFA too, which is really amazing. However, the final choice is yours. Each game has its advantages and disadvantages. It is up to you to weigh them and make your own choice. It doesn't matter which one you prefer, because you will have fun with both games.
