RealPlayer is one of the classic players that you can get for free. The program can be used for free, but you have to prepare for a lot of pop-up commercials that can annoy you. You can purchase the full ad-free version from the developer RealNetworks for EUR 44.99. The free version still offers a lot of functions that will help you run video and audio files and even play online radio. There are a lot more functions that you can use, but the free version has limitations. Please keep in mind that there is a brand new version of the software. For now on RealPlayer will be RealPlayer Cloud.

You can see a lot of functions on the mains screen of RealPlayer, but some of them are limited only to the paid version. For example there is a burn tab that includes these features, but if you want to get them, you have to buy the paid version. Still, there are a lot of other functions that you can use in the full version, like for example you can start various audio and video formats, like MP3, WAV, WMA, SWF, AVI, MPEG, SWF and MOV. These formats are only a part of the ones that you can use, but the full number of formats is, again, available only in the paid version.

Interface

The interface of RealPlayer contains all the main functions of the app in the tabbed buttons and a standard field where you can control the video and audio in the usual way. The tabbed buttons are for the video that is now playing, the library, the burn options, the online guide and the web videos. When you create your list of video and audio files that you want to play you can manage them from the library. The online guide tab includes all the online radio stations that you can play and also some additional available downloads. The last tab – Web Videos – includes additional videos for download and playing.

Conclusion

RealPlay may have some limitations in the free version, but it is still free. If you want the full functionality of the program get the paid edition. The free version is still quite capable and you will be able to watch your videos and listen to your music, as long as you don’t mind the pop-up ads.
