PuTTY 0.63 Beta is client software for the following network protocols – SSH, Telnet and Rlogin. You have probably heard about them. They are used to run a remote session on a PC over a network. Generally, you run PuTTY on a Windows-based computer and tell it to connect to another machine. Thus you can work the other machine even if it is i.e. Unix-based , while you are actually sitting somewhere else. Cool, right?
